Black screen on desktop

My ACER monitor on my desktop PC, Windows 7. has became black : no cursor or anything, just a regular sounds when I turned it on. How can I fix it in the most simple way ? ( I'm not exactly a PC expert ! ) Thank you !

If you can, you should try with another monitor or with this monitor on another PC in order to know if the problem comes from the monitor or from the PC.

Thank you so much for your answer, but in the meantime I fixed the problem. I'm ashamed to say , since it was a trivial stuff : the cable wasn't plugged correctly. ( Blushing :-) Cheers !
