Black screen

Hello, I have a HP laptop don't know much of them but my brother tried to reset the computer and it said error had accord after 5 percent of reseting and it had options of continue or cancel I clicked continue and it restarted than when it booted all I see is black screen that says exc to menu or something like that than blank black please help
