Losing data as if you newly installed windows

Heyy Dear .. hope i am helped with my problem here.. This morning when i turned on my office computer . all the data i had in my Desktop .. documents and downloads are lost .. and also i dont have my email setting in my out look too .. but my data in drives are safe .. it looks like when you newly install a windows ... what might be the problems .. same thing happened once before too ... please help me with your comments

I shutdown my PC yesterday evening ,,, and today when i turned it on .. there was no file in my desktop and other folders related to drive C: ... its like you install deepfreez when installing windows and when restarting every copied files in your desktop is wiped out ..

also my outlook configuration was deleted ... so i had to reconfigure my email to outlook ..

If you reinstalled Windows 7, it does erase all data.
