Why wont my call of duty 4 work on multiplaye

Hello,
i got call of duty 4 for my pc desktop its works great but when i try to get on multilayer i go to join a server but then a message comes up saying server disconnected then it gos back to main screen every time so could someone help me i dont want to waste all my money on crap to fix it.

check you have opened the firewall ports correctly on software and router

hi,
it may be that you need a faster connection speed.
check if you can fix this by your network operator.
