Ipod classic syncing probs

Hello,
My windows 8 computer will not recognize my iPod classic. Its a new computer old iPod so it already has music on it that im okay with losing if I have to. I plug it in and all the happens is charging, no sync sound or anything I even tried to sync it to my moms mac and nothing happened. I have tried more then one cord so I dont think thats the problem. PLEASE HELP,THANKS!

have you tried turning on the auto sync in your itunes acct?
