Gateway M-Series Windows Vista Laptop Factory Reset Request

Hello,
I hope some one can Help. I've received this laptop as a hand me down and I've already tried the usual F11, Alt+F10 and even the repeated "R" my gateway recovery managament keeps prompting me with a try again later or restart. I'm at wits end trying to reset this laptop. I am able to perform the F8 function and am ale to get into the recovery options but not as the Administrator. I care not for the items already downloaded or saved I just want a clean start. Please tell me there's a command prompt I can just input myself to get this dang thins configured to a fresher point. By the by, the recovery options are mute as well, no matter how far back I go in recovery is no different.
