Last month me and a friend build a custom pc for me. Everything ran smooth and it worked perfectly.

Parts:

GTX 960 2gb Gaming edition
i5-4690K processer
Corsair CX600W PSU
Asus Maximum Ranger VII Motherboard
8 gb Corsair Vengeance Ram

So today I decided that I wanted to take the CD drive from my old desktop and put it into the new custom build desktop. I connected the cd drive and tried booting the computer. All fans and lights turn on but moniters says there is no signal. Im pretty sure I also hear the beep but not intirely sure. The lights in the keyboard and mouse doesnt get lit so I think its something with the motherboard or the gpu.
I have also tried connecting the computer to another screen but that was a television so I dont think it works anyway, and we dont have any other monitors in our house.

I have tried:

Removing both ram sticks
Removing cord from GPU to Motherboard and connecting it again.
Resetting CMOS.
Removing the DVD drive again.
Turning off computer and remove power cord and hold power button for 30 second to 1 minute. Connect powercord again and trying to turn it on fixed nothing either.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I just cant seem to find a person with the excact problem I got. Im afraid its the motherboard or gpu. Think its motherboard since mouse and keyboard doesn't have lights in it either. But it detects my lan cable and blinks so that part works I guess?

Static electricity more than likely.

Does it boot without the DVD player in it? Your power supply may not have enough "JUICE" to power all that you have in the case.

OK, start with the simple stuff.

Disconnect the video cable and make certain the PINS are:
  • All there
  • Not bent
  • Check both ends just to be certain

If that turns out OK, the next question is, did you unplug the power cord to the case before you made any connections with the DVD player while installing?

I checked up on the pins and none of them seemed to be bend. I did try another GPU wire that was in the case and the result was the same.

And yes, I did unplug the power cord from the case before trying to install the dvd player.

At this point, you need a known good. Do you have another video source, like a friends laptop?
