I am helpless as the online Windows Update is taking lots of my time when i am in need to restart my PC.
even on my emergency reboot it takes time, sometimes for hours and also with the warning like "....DO NOT POWER DOWN YOUR PC..."
how to bypass the install procedure and install at my convenient time?

Hi

1. Which version of Windows do you have ?
2. What is the make and model of your computer?
3. When is the last time you deleted all of your temporary files?
4. When is the last time you defragmented your hard disk?

More importantly, when was the last time you applied updates? Last week there was a HUGE number of CUMULATIVE UPDATES that won't all install, unbtil the previous one gets in. So you may have to reboot a number of different times, to apply and accept more updates! Always save your work and restart if your PC is asking to, because the health of your system depends on those updates! I have seen one update take 4 HOURS to apply!

Updates are installing on my Touch Screen laptop operated by Win 10 OS, Configuration: i7 processor,16G RAM, Geforce 850M + Intel HD4600, 1TB HDD.
I am connected Wifi 24x7, I work & enjoy movies on that for a long time and most of the time i leave my laptop on sleep mode, i don't bother to restart if its not required.
For temporary files i use frequently CCleaner and Disk defragment is scheduled weekly.

I guess ac3mark is right, but even though, I may need to reboot MY PC when ever I want and the UPDATES should be installed if I agree to pay my time and in my convenient, NOT in microsoft's convenient by freezing my work and me for hours with ruing my working hours.

Blame your production on the workstation. Your boss isn't going to care, and he may make you clock out while it is UPDATING! Your PC will tell you ANYTIME that it needs to update, and reboot. MOST do not reboot, they just lock it. THen eventually the PC says, I HAVE to DO THIS! It then takes 4 hours to complete! Sorry, but that is how it goes. You must dedicate time to CLEAN THE CAGE, and FEED AND WATER IT!

Yep ! You are right on Mark ! As they say in Kansas, on the yellow brick road: "That the way the cookie crumbles".

Speaking of Kansas, they are about to eliminate the Toronto Blue Jays.
