Hey there, barosejade.
Although it's pretty difficult for a Micro SD card to get damaged when a phone is dropped, due to its slot and tiny size - it's not impossible. It really sounds like the memory card might have failed. If you don't need to recover data from it, you can try to reformat it via Disk Management if it's recognized there, or try using the manufacturer's format tool, to see if it can detect it and format it, so that you can use it again.
