Dell Latitude laptop Black Screen Closed

Question

I have a Dell Latitude laptop which stopped displaying anything but a black screen on start up and stay like that. I checked the display settings and adapter, but everything looks ok.

I connected it to another monitor and it shows all display and I can work with it. I tried dual display, still nothing comes on the laptop screen.

Try this

1. Remove the battery and cable.

2. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds.

3. Replug and start.

Hi: Thanks for the advise, but unfortunately I tried all that, but nothing happening. Checked for virus, updates and all. Tried to do chkdsk but says I dont have enough previlages. I am the only user administrator. 

Thought of reinstalling windows,  but unable to access boot setup as the startup screen dont display on the external monitor. Only windows 7 starting screen appear on the monitor, windows logo dont appear to use function key to access boot up setting. Because system is not checking cd drive on bootup. I need to change the boot sequence in the setup.

So, in a limbo as to what next?

Looks like a hard drive failure.  I suggest you consult a technician.
