Laptop Is not starting

Hi
I am using my vaio for the 4 + years.but when I tried to turn on my laptop today its not starting.
When I pressed the power button the power lid glows for 5 seconds and it goes.
I can see only a black screen. And I not hearing the sound of the fan while starting.
What I am supposed to do??
Pls reply: )

switch off the laptop
Remove your battery
connect power adapter directly
switch on the laptop

I tried but I can't even hear the beep sound or the fan starting sound.
Is there any other way to try and turn it on.

switch off the laptop
Remove your battery
press power button for 30 seconds
connect power adapter directly
switch on the laptop
