Connecting laptop to tv

Hello,
I've been trying to connect my laptop to the TV using a HDMI cable because my screen is broken. It works on my rca TV in the bedroom but in the living room which is a Samsung I cannot get it to work any suggestion

Try changing the input list to 'HDMI' on your tv.
