No display in monitor but cpu runs

i have a hcl desktop that a old one i put it in my attic so its not on for a long time now i tried to switch it on the CPU runs but the monitor stays blank and doesn't respond please do help me with this friends i need to switch it on so that i can get the files in it please.

OK, was the monitor in the attic too? Do you have a KNOWN good monitor?

no its not its a new one only the cpu was in the attic

OK, is the video card integrated with the MB or a seperate one? You mention that the monitor is a new one, did it come with a disk?
