Hp pavillion will not boot

Hello,
My hp pavillion was working fine until it started hanging. So i removed the battery thinking hard reset would help it. And when i put back the batt and turned on the laptop it wont come on. I cant hear the fan or anything. The only thing showing is the power button light which wont even go off. I tried charging it and the light supposed to show when its being charged isnt showing either. The laptop just went blank. Ive tried removing the batt and fixing it back a couple of times and it still remains the same. Pls help. Im getting really worried as i have so many important documents and files on the laptop. What do i do?
