White Screen of Death - Suggestions do not work :-(

Hello to all!

I've tried to restart the ipod Touch by holding down the home/power on-off/volume up keys and still I get the white screen. I'm sure it has to be an easy fix but so far it is not so easy for me.

I've restored it back to factory settings via ITunes but still have this issue. I hate to just sell it or discard it as I'm of the old school that believes in fixing things no matter how "ancient" it may be. I dislike being a "throw-away society." Any suggestions?!

I also have an iPod nano IV that may need a new battery. I've watched the YouTube videos constantly but my fingers are no longer that nimble. Again any suggestions?
