                    i am sure you are aware of using of formatting. So I am presuming that change of format is not making any difference. It would be due to that in excel dates are internally stored as number. So if you click on the date and then go to Data, text to columns, make sure Delimited is highlighted and press next. unselect all check box and choose date and select the format  choose DMY format.
