IC burn

Hello !
I have an ASUS laptop with X551CA Motherboard .I was installing some software and all of a sudden smokes was coming out of the machine.And after checking everything ,I noticed that one of the IC was burnt.the laptop was off when that happened ,i do not understand how?
please help !

How? Extremely bad luck.

Sometimes a current limiting resistor will fail resulting in a cascade of subsequent failures.

Motherboard replacement is the only repair method that is practical. Even then it's probably cheaper to replace the entire laptop.
