Hi Bmp1010,
Is it possible to enter BIOS or the PC simply does not respond after pressing the power button? If it is possible, check if the hard drive is correctly recognized. There may be a hardware issue which causes problems when trying to boot Windows. It would be a good idea to try booting from an OS installation drive and try to repair the system. If it is not possible, there try reinstalling. Have in mind that you will lose all the data on the primary partition. If you have valuable data, first try to back it up by connecting the drive to another PC, as a secondary drive. While connected to another PC and with the data backed up, use the drive manufacturer’s diagnostic tool to confirm the hard drive’s condition.
Hope this helps

No, it's a desktop, (Dell, about 5 years old).
