Hotmail messages have been removed and I cannot retrieve them

Received a notification yesterday that broken emails had been recovered but it still shows there is one unread message that does not come in. Since that time all of my inbox messages have been removed and I cannot retrieve them. Also,new messages to the inbox cannot be sent to trash. This has all just occurred in the last two days.
