Sound card

Hello guys, any suggestion


I have an on board sound card that stopped working i don't know why...so i bought an external sound card and now i want to format my PC but what will happen if i loose my sound now. i don't have the drivers for the external sound card. i only have for the one that stopped working. Now i want to know what caused the on board card to stop working and also will the sound stop if i re install my windows, im afraid it will and will have to download drivers for the external card?

It's unlikey you wouldnt be able to download a driver off the web after a total format, however it's a better idea to get the drivers off the web and burn to a cd etc BEFORE formatting incase you have issues.
