Cant repair laptop OS, mising ext. floppy dr.

Hi,

My laptop does not finnish booting up. I have an older laptop with a bios that does not boot up from a cdrom. I cant use the floppy drive because i lost it. I ordered one of those sata/ide to usb converters that have the laptop HDD connection. I want to attempt to fix the OS by hooking the hdd up to a vista computer and using an XP cd to repair it, how do I go about doing that? Oh and I dont need to backup anything from that hardrive.

If you want to repair Xp ...you mus connect it to a PC having XP installed on it.
