Usb adapters not functioning

my network adapters are not functioning in acer with with windows 8 operating system,why?is it driver missing or hardware problem?i connect any usb devices but in vain.

Is it 8, or 8.1? You need the 8.1 if you are on 8. I understand that it is the network that is giving you issues, but you may need to get the appropriate fix on a USB, and then put it into the laptop via USB!
