My SD card gets red hot when plugged into computer

Hello,

My SD card is corrupt and gets red hot when I plug it into the computer to try to recover some pictures. Most websites say to try recovery software but it gets too hot to leave plugged in. Is there any other way to recover the photos?

Please advise.

Using the card may damage the computer itself.
