very strange considering that the local drive is normally the Windows device, thus wouldn't work if there was an issue with the actual drive. It's probably nothing too major to worry about, try redetect the hardware on device manager and see if that cures it. Also if the motherboard is Intel chipset try run the latest chipset driver updater from intel.com
