Lenovo laptop 80E5 keyboard problems

Hello, how do I get my lenovo laptop 80E5 to print letters,It's a brand new one and I've set it up and closed it down,now it's asking for my password,I put it in and now it won't accept my password,I think it's putting it in in numbers instead of letters.

It's possible the keyboard is defective. Can the laptop be returned?
