Acer TravelMate 230 Does Not Turn On

First post here. I'm having issues with my 10yr old Acer laptop.

Last night it was playing up with the blank screen problem; laptop would turn on, all the lights were reporting on but the display was completely blank. I consulted some of the forums and read that swapping the RAM module to another slot would solve it. I did exactly this - swapped the RAM module to the neighboring slot and tried to turn it on, but now it would not even turn on. There are no lights at all.

I've tried the Acer method to remove the battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then plug in the AC, however, still no luck as none of the lights are turning on. I've also tried another AC adapter from another laptop but still no change.

Are there anymore alternatives/workarounds that I can try before taking it to the laptop repair place?
