I have this Gateway Laptop with windows XP. I have a weird audio problem. No sounds except error sounds and REALLY basic computer sounds work but YouTube, videogames, ect. Don't have ANY audio. I tried my headphones and with my luck it don't work. I went under control panel and clicked sounds and audio devices and it's ALL grayed out. I cant click anything. I go under search and click All Files and Folders on the left and search volume. I click Volume Control and it says There are no Active Devices Available. if u need any other info plzzzz tell me. I really need help. Thx and yah bai. :)

It really sounds like hardware failure. Does the hardware show up in Hardware Manager? If not, then you have a failure!

If it is yellow, then it has problems. Being XP, I am not certain there is anything you can do. Manually hunt the files down I suppose!
