Hello,

I have a 32gb sony pendrive. I can't format it. Whenever I do it, it says media device is write-protected.

I tried using reg edit but I am unable to format it.

Hi Ravi,

Is this a new pendrive? Did you enable write protection or this message seems more like an error? I strogly recommend you to test the device on another PC and try to format in Safe Mode. Is it possible? If not, run the Command Prompt as an Administrador and type the following commands:

Diskpart
List disk
Select disk n (n is the number of the drive)
Attributes disk clear readonly

Close the Command prompt, open Disk Management and try to format the drive.

Hope this helps

again same problem ..i try as ur solutions..its a new pendrive 32 gb sony

Have you checked the suggestions, provided by Ambucias? If none of them help and the pendrive keep sending the write protection message even on another PC, I would check if the pendrive has some kind of a button or a switch which enables/disables write protection. Please confirm that.
If you have the option, check the pendrive on a PC with Linux OS. Try to copy some files and format in NTFS. If the device is not accessible even there, there may be a pendrive problem and you may need to replace it.
again i cant formate same problem
