Games resolution vs tv resolution

Hello,

My problem is i connect my ps3 to the internet and put on MLB 08 the show in and it updated automatically from the web. Before i could play the game on my tv that has a stantard resolution of 480p but now the game requires me to have a tv resolution of 720p, but my tv does not support this resolution. Is there anyway to lower the game's resolution back to 480?

go to the main menu of the game and video/graphics option.
