Help! My laptop keyboard doesn't work online!

For some reason, I cannot type anywhere online, but I can offline. I encounter no issues in Microsoft Word, or notepad, for example. The only problem I have is that whenever I try to type anything online, like a google search box, or a website, nothing happens. It simply does not do anything when I type.
The mouse does not encounter any issues, on or offline.

I have to type things into notepad, cut, and then paste using the mouse (as the ctrl-v command doesn't work either).

I found the solution:

Ensure that HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Chrome\Metro\launch_mode is set to 0. Trying to use the "Windows 8" mode on Windows 10 gives you this result.
