Hello,

I had a problem with my start button so following a YouTube video it suggested I should go into msconfig and start my computer in safe mode. I did this and now the computer is not booting. I have tried all the f numbers and nothing.

So I took the hard drive out and tried it in my other spare computer and it works. So any idea what the problem could be.

Hi Bazzaboy,

Could you please describe me what happens when you press the power button? The PC boots normally but cannot boot to Windows or you can’t see anything including the BIOS menu? If you can access BIOS menu normally, then maybe the problem comes from the installed Windows. Please connect your hard drive using another SATA cable and a different motherboard port. Is the drive recognized in BIOS? If it is, boot from a Windows installation drive and reinstall the OS. If you have important files in the primary partition, backup them while you still have the drive connected to another PC.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. When I press the button I hear the fans come on and the drive spin, but that is it. Nothing but a black screen. Does not get to logo just nothing. I have also read up about the motherboard and have done a reset. But this still hasn't help. So I guess it could be the motherboard.

You should be able to access the BIOS menu even with no hard drive connected. It really looks like a motherboard issue. Resetting it was a good idea. Can you hear the beep sound when you press the power button?
There could be a connectivity problem, if some power cable has been disconnected or has failed. The good news is that your hard drive is working fine and your data is safe. I would suggest you to seek help from a technician in order to find out where the issue comes from and if it is repairable.

Looking at other who have had the problem. It looks like the motherboard is ready for the bin. Getting no beep at all.
