i was trying to transfer some files from my laptop to the pc, using my external hard disk. when I connected the disk to the pc, it would not detect the disk. I even tried using different ports. it did not work. then I tried connecting it back to the laptop. but the laptop also did not detect it. I tried it on other pc's but it's the same. wht do I do now? I need the data on the disk.

note: when the disk is connected to any pc/laptop the light appears, indicating it is connected.

Hi dhirenda,

Please connect the drive to your PC and open Disk Management. Is the drive recognized? You may need to change its drive letter. Sometimes, when using one drive on several PCs, there may be an issue with the drive letter and you should re-assign one manually. If the drive is not listed there, please search for it in Device Manager. Is it listed there, under USB devices?
If the drive is in Disk Management but it appears with wrong file format or as unallocated space, download a data recovery tool and try to save the most important files. I leave you some suggestions in the link below:

Hope this helps
