HP Hard drive swap issues

Hello, I have 2 HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops. I dropped one, and put it's hard drive in the second laptop. It will not boot, and I need to know if I can configure the hard drive to work with laptop #2.

use an external hard disk casing 2.5 "

fix the hard drive in it and use it as an external drive

by usb cable it will be provided in package
