Cant seem to download 8.1. of iTunes Closed

Hello,
Well I just got an iTouch and I need the new Version of iTunes and everytime i try to dowload it, it always says error 32Application is not a valid application or something like that. So i downloaded the 64 bit version of iTunes and it tells me that that version is not compatible with my computer. should i just return the iTouch? what should I do? Help?

d itunes intsalled in my windows vista 64 bit system is version 7.6, n it always say that my iphone3g can not work with it that i should get 7.7 version and above. i had tried downloading 8.2 version using DAP but it always failed midway.what should i do?
