Installing xp on an empty hard drive

Hello,
I bought a laptop that had windows 7 but I wanted to to down grade it so I boot the xp disk ect.ect.but as I'm installing it says". Cannot copy the file :cmnicfg.xml
"I skiped the 4 other files ,finished ,and then it pops the xp logo ,after that
It says it can't install because of the files I skipped I have no idea what to do so if there's someone out there that knows and tells me I'd greatly appreciate the info. Huge ocean of thanks in advance.

Hi

Installing Xp is a great mistake, it is not safe. You are asking for problems.

To fix your issue, insert your disk and repair.
