My HP Windows 10 laptop keyboard makes a double sound upon pressing letter y. Holding the shift key and pressing y removes this sound but then the output is capital Y which I don't want.

I've restarted my computer, checked sticky keys, its turned off and run the keyboard troubleshooter. I've checked in device manager and there's just PS2 keyboard no exclamation. All drivers are upto date.

Please can someone help me remove this annoying sound upon typing letter y?

What kind of sound is it? Beeping, clicking or whirling?

It sounds like for what ever reason, your hardware is interprering you are holding the key down. Try this:

turn your machine off. turn ir back on and hold down the space bar. Is that the sound?

I tried turning off my machine, turning it back on and holding down space bar produces no sound. I suppse the sound i get can be compared to a beep. Its like a shorter version of busy tone or dial tone on phone, lasts for a nano second but beeps twice very fast upon pressing y. Very annoying.
