Number 9 pad key is not working

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E540 Laptop. There is a number pad on the right side of the keyboard. My laptop has completed 1 1/2 years and recently the number key 9 and Enter key on the NUMBER PAD has stopped working. Can someone Please tell me why is this happening?

Both keys got filthy, they must be removed and cleaned.
