hi,
it would be helpful if you could ive the make and model of your laptop.
check if there is "CRT/LCD" written on one of the button on the keyboard.
press it and see if this helps.

Also,
on one of the buttons (probably from 1 - 0 or F1 - F12)
in a different colour there might be something that looks like a tv or possibly multiple monitors.
you need to hold the fn (function) key and select this.
