Hello, I will try to make this as clear as possible........

I have a the dell installation disc for XP pro SP2 from the inspiron 1525 that went through a fire.

I now have and inspiron 1525 with vista on it... What a major mistake!

I thought is would be a simple switch have the the xp dell install, but have since found that thought to be wrong. Or not as simple as I thought.....

Can anyone help me out with instruction, step by stp, for a laymen/women?

To use XP on the dell inspiron you will have to change the sata operation to IDE on your bios! Change the AHCI settings!

Then Insert your Windows XP installation disk!

I believe I already did that and try through the normal routine and nope, notta. Unless I changed to SATA in the wrong fashion. I know I enabled it.

Will find the instructions again and check it out
Thanks....
