OS NOT FOUND

Hello,
i have a windows vista sony vaio laptop! and recently i accedently hit my laptop and it wont find the OS now..and wont strat up...i have done everything from youtube 2 google 2 a recovery cd! im using one of those now and its working so far but after it asks 4 the serial number it says cant completely restore because it cant find all the restore files and stuff!
so what do i do?! what is going on pls help me =D

just now i turned on my vaio laptop and a black screen pops up with the message "Missing Operating System"

how do i find it or get it back? and what does this mean?

i mean i have a reboot cd and i tried to restore my window's but it wont restore because the OS is missing..
what do i do can you please help me?
i hope u understand this one better!
