Excel 2007: Reading data from sheet to sheet

I am trying to read data from sheet "a" cell to cell on sheet "b". I entered function "=sum('sheeta'!f20) in destination cell, but all I am getting is the text of the function. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help. Stephen

Wondering if the cell where you attempted to have the formula has been formatted to be TEXT. It should be general. Also you may have accidentally placed a ' (single quote) before the formula

By the way if you just want the value, why you need to do sum ? simply enter

='sheeta'!f20
