Regsvr.exe problem at startup

Hi Dataum,

Thanks for the information by doing the following steps I have solved the problem while windows start up...............




This is a virus which starts when your computer starts, so when you run any anti virus program or delete this file then it creates a problem. Your computer starts and its unable to locate that file to that is when it gives you this error.
So I can give you a temporary solution as I myself not sure about any other way out.

Just follow these steps.

click on Start>Run> then type msconfig
then another window opens up there goto tab Startup and then locate the file regsvr.exe and uncheck the button in the starting of the same.

Then exit and follow the steps.

I am sure it sill solve the problem.

HI dear my problem still exists:-( when I type regedit in the run it says that registry editing has been disabled by the administrator:-( z there any other solution?

hey thanks for the soln..coz the error doesn't appear any more.. BUT had a small query that does this file "regsvr.exe" have any use at all? To my knowledge what happenned in my case is, a virus called Win32/tanatos.J had affected the regsvr.exe file and I deleted it using AVG home edition 9 free version after which this error was being shown during starting up windows everytime..Now is in a good as new state coz the purpose served by the regsvr.exe file does not seem to be happening anymore

Then software >Microsoft >windows nt
>current version > click winlogon
To the right side u will see the “SHELL”
IT WILL BE APPEARS AS FOLLOWS

Name type data
Shell reg_sz explorer.exeregsvr.exe

Then double click the shell and rename
explorer.exeregsvr.exe to explorer.exe

Click start > go to run >type regedit
Go to hkey_local_machine
Then software >Microsoft >windows nt
>current version > click winlogon
To the right side u will see the “SHELL”
IT WILL BE APPEARS AS FOLLOWS

Name type data
Shell reg_sz explorer.exeregsvr.exe

Then double click the shell and rename
explorer.exeregsvr.exe to explorer.exe
then restart the computer
