My ipod wont turn on , please help):

GUYS!
i seriously need some help ..
my ipod nano wont turn on , i haven't used it for ages.
and now it wont turn on or charge.
but my computer reconises it?
and when i hold in the middle and home button for a while, it starts beeping once or twice
and then the screen goes black again or stays lit up with nothing on it .
whats going on with my ipod?
if anyone could help then you will be a complete life saver!
