Formatting of hd drive partition

Hello,

i am facing a problem in formatting the c: partition . when i am trying at low level it is saying cannot format, the partition is raw try to format using /FS option. i am unable to format the partition.please help me to resolve the problem.

Is your XP installed on C:?
what low level formatting are you talking about ?

xp was not installed on my c: drive. i am saying about formatting through command prompt

Why dont you try after booting through windows or windows cd?

i am unable to install xp on c: drive.It is displaying a message check power cables properly attached.check for any new hardware properly installaed or not.set is unable to install the operating system
