How to change mail settings in Gmail?Closed

By accident the settings the incoming/outgoing mail settings were changed in one of my Gmail accounts. 
How do I change the IMAP etc settings?

I have enabled IMAP & saved the settings but it gives me this error message:
The server returned the error: The connection to the server "imap.gmail.com" on port 143 timed out.

I am using Safari not Outlook.
Not sure if this matters but it is only on my laptop (MacBook Air)
I have removed the mailbox from my laptop and have tried to begin with a new Gmail account but it isn't working either
