Wireless connect

Hello,
I have two laptops, Windows and Linusx (ASUS EEE PC).
Both connected and maintained the connection flawlessly on a WPA secured access point.
I helped my neighbour securing his wireless network (Also WPA).
Since then my ASUS will only connect if i hold it close to the AP. After that the connection works fine, also at a distance.
I think that interference may be the reason.
My neigbour's AP is set to channel 11, my AP to channel 1.
The windows laptop has no trouble connecting promptly.
Can you suggest solutions?

may be there is a IP conflict between the two connections

Can i get more info about the type of connection you're using?

What kind of info do you need? brand / type of acces point / router or network card?
