Hp laptop volume icon has an x over it.

Hello,

i have an hp laptop, and the volume icon has an x over it.. i ran my mouse across from it and it says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. once i clicked on it, it takes me to problem and it says it cant find anything.
i have tried everything. please help!

Hi Aimee,

Go to Device Manager (via Control Panel) and check the sound card drivers are installed. There will probably be an exclamation mark over the device. Double click it and choose the "driver" tab and click on the Update Drivers button.

If this doesnt work, right click on the device (in Device manager) and choose "Uninstall. Agree to the warning and restart your machine.
