When I restart my laptop it has activated the number lock on close down. This could be an alternative safety check on opening , but why has it decided to do this and how can I reverse it?

I close my laptop down as I always have.
When I restart it the number lock has activated and in order to log on I have to press the number lock key.
I have no idea why it should now do this, I haven't changed anything. I haven't been in to settings or anywhere else that could altered the strt up.

If it does cause a major problem I would ignore it, or consult a technician.
