Yuzu turns your PC and Android into a Nintendo Switch playground! Crafted by the Citra team, it pushes gaming boundaries, allowing you to play your favorite Switch titles on more devices. Powerful, open-source, Yuzu brings console games to your fingertips anytime, anywhere.
What is Yuzu?
Yuzu is a Nintendo Switch console emulator designed to run games right on your computer and Android devices. Created by the brains behind the Citra emulator for the Nintendo 3DS, Yuzu shares much of its DNA with this well-regarded predecessor.
The project kicked off in early 2018, aiming to widen the horizon for Switch gaming beyond the console's limitations. Initially focusing on essential software and homebrew games, Yuzu quickly expanded its reach.
The company ceased its activity On February 26, 2024.
What are the key features of Yuzu?
- Play your favorite games: With the Yuzu Emulator, games usually unavailable on the Nintendo Switch become playable on your PC and Android. You can now play games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Pokémon: Let's Go on a Windows or Android device.
- Customizable: The Yuzu menu allows you to control the performance of your emulated Switch games. You can achieve better frame rates, tweak the graphics settings, and connect your favorite controller. We love using our GameCube controller while playing Switch games through Yuzu.
- High-resolution gaming: Yuzu enables games to run at higher resolutions than the Nintendo Switch console, leveraging the more powerful hardware in PCs and some mobile devices. Moreover, it is capable of simulating docked and undocked resolutions.
- Controller support: The emulator supports various input methods, including keyboard and mouse, gamepads, and joy-cons, allowing users to choose their preferred way of playing.
- Customizable configuration: You can tweak a wide range of settings, including graphics and controls, to optimize your gaming experience according to your device's capabilities and personal preferences.
- Local wireless multiplayer: Yuzu supports Local Wireless (LDN) and Local Area Network (LAN) multiplayer.
How to use Yuzu?
As Yuzu is no longer under development and the website is closed, we strongly advise you to take a look at recent website snapshots, which still provide valuable guides. Also, take a took at the Switch Homebrew section.
Is Yuzu free?
Yes, Yuzu Emu is an experimental open-source software that is entirely free.
Is Yuzu the best Switch emulator?
We really like the way Yuzu allows us to play Switch games on a PC. However, Ryujinx is also a great emulator. You could try out both of these apps for yourself and decide which Nintendo Switch emulator you like best.
