Laptop shuts down within 1 minute when a charger is unplugged

Hello,


I am using HP laptop, and when I unplug the charger, the laptop shuts down within a minute (not immediately after). Then when I try to turn on the laptop without the charger, it shuts down again within 10 seconds.

Any possible cause for this?

Probably a defective battery
